Fresh Fish & Live Fish, Department No.1

Tokushima Prefecture is surrounded by three different ocean currents, Harimanada, Kii Channel, and the Pacific Ocean, and is blessed with abundant nature. We, the Inland Sea Section of the Fresh Fish & Live Fish, Department No.1, handle seasonal inshore fish caught throughout the four seasons in these blessed waters.

We handle fish landed in coastal waters by various fishing methods with care and diligence, processing such as live-tightening, blood removal, etc. so that the freshness of the fish is not lost, and delivering fresher fish to our consumers. Our technical skills and sincerity in handling fresh fish are second to none.

In recent years, in cooperation with producers and the Tokushima Prefectural Fisheries Division, we have launched the “Uzuhana Brand” including “Naruto Ippon Zuri Uzuhana-tai” and ship it widely to the Kanto and Kansai regions.

The Blue-backed Fish Section receives bluefish (bluefish) such as horse mackerel, mackerel, sardines, and saury from fishing grounds all over Japan and delivers them to consumers.

Oily fish is delicious. The fat of fish contains a large amount of unsaturated fatty acids that make our blood thinner. In particular, three types of unsaturated fatty acids, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, and arachidonic acid, are called essential unsaturated fatty acids because they are essential nutrients for our bodies. It is a well-known fact that bluefish contain large amounts of these essential unsaturated fatty acids. In recent years, Japan has become increasingly westernized, and there are concerns with that people are turning away from fish, but we at the Blue-backed Fish Section are working hard to increase the consumption of bluefish.
